Building blocks for a cloud that doesn’t answer to the big few.
Qavats Ranch is an independent technology studio. We make the components of a decentralized cloud, for anyone who’d rather build outside the establishment.
Out here, we do things our own way.
Most of the cloud is built, priced and controlled by a handful of giants. We think there’s room for something different, so we raise our own technology on our own terms, from the first sketch to something sturdy enough to run a business on.
We make components: each one a complete piece that does one job well and fits with the others. Put them together and you have a decentralized cloud that doesn’t depend on anyone’s permission.
- Qavats Ranch
- Invents and builds the components.
- Qavats, Inc.
- A related but separate company. It builds companies, and our components are part of what it builds with.
- Anyone building their own
- Can start from the same components.
How the pieces fit together.
The cloud industry sorts its services into three layers: Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service and Software-as-a-Service. We build a decentralized version of each.
Read the diagram from the bottom up. Devices bring the hardware, and VINE is the box around it: decentralized Infrastructure-as-a-Service that people join in place of leasing from the big cloud companies. Thelo, Simlah, Shekel and ElRoi are our decentralized Platform-as-a-Service. Thelo makes peer-to-peer connections between anything and anything, Simlah gives everyone one identity across the whole ecosystem, Shekel routes the payments, and ElRoi, running through every layer, learns you and no one else. On top, Arithmos puts it all to work as software for running a business.
Decentralized Software-as-a-Service
Our first Software-as-a-Service. It brings all of these capabilities together to help people build and run their businesses: accounting, ERP, HRM and CRM for a flat $9.99 a month.
Decentralized Platform-as-a-Service
Decentralized identity management and authorization. One identity connects you to everything across our ecosystem, with no big platform holding the keys.
Decentralized payment routing, tightly tied to Simlah’s identity and authorization. Every payment that reaches VINE comes through it.
Peer-to-peer, anything-to-anything connections. It links disparate, decentralized infrastructure so it acts like one larger machine, and connects people and things to the services and the hardware without exposing public IPs or ports, even behind NAT firewalls.
Decentralized Infrastructure-as-a-Service
VINEThe economic ecosystem around the hardware. People and organizations who supply decentralized hardware or infrastructure, such as BYOD and Karma owners, share in the revenue it earns. The payments come in through Shekel. Why VINE matters
Bring your own device. Hardware you already have, put to work as part of the cloud.
On-premise sensors and local compute nodes that keep data close to home.
Why VINE matters.
When people take part in VINE, they replace proprietary, centralized, physical cloud infrastructure, the kind they would otherwise lease from AWS, Google Cloud or Azure.
Everyday people earn the revenue.
Infrastructure-as-a-Service revenue doesn’t have to flow only to the biggest providers. In VINE, the people who supply the hardware share in it.
A steadier cloud.
Most of the cloud is owned and operated by a handful of Big Tech companies. Every participant adds independent capacity, and that helps steady the whole thing.
Decentralized Infrastructure-as-a-Service
Infrastructure-as-a-Service is the computing, storage and networking that businesses rent instead of owning, and everything inside VINE is a decentralized version of it. Instead of one company owning rows of servers in a centralized data center, the hardware belongs to many people: devices they already have (BYOD) and Karma nodes.
Thelo joins those machines so they act like one larger machine, and keeps them reachable without exposing public IPs or ports. Payments come in through Shekel, and VINE shares the revenue back with the owners of the hardware.
An intelligence that’s yours alone.
ElRoi is the common intelligence layer behind everything you do with us, and part of our decentralized Platform-as-a-Service. It’s more than an AI. It’s trained up on you: your practices, your data, the way you actually work. So it serves you as an individual, not as an average of everyone.
And it runs on your premises. What ElRoi learns about you stays with you, and it isn’t shared with anyone else.
Trained on you.
It learns your practices and your data, so its help fits how you really work.
Runs on your premises.
ElRoi lives on hardware you control, right beside your data.
Not shared with anyone.
What it learns about you isn’t shared with anyone else.
One intelligence, every layer.
The same ElRoi works across every layer in the diagram above, instead of a separate assistant for each.
How we build.
Independent by design.
Nothing here depends on a hyperscaler, and nothing needs one. We like it that way.
Pieces, not a platform.
Every component stands alone and connects to the rest, so you can start with one and add the others as you grow.
Close to home.
We design components to run near the people they serve, so the data and the income stay in the community.
Where you can see them working.
Qavats, Inc. is a related company with its own business model. It builds companies, and it incorporates our components along the way, so it’s a good place to see them at work. You can read its story at qavats.com.
If you’re building a decentralized cloud and need one of these components, or one we haven’t made yet, we’d love to hear about it.
